How to fry cabbage with bacon
Pan-frying cabbage is very easy: Cook bacon in a skillet until the fat has rendered and the bacon is crispy. Keep the crispy bacon for later and save some of the rendered fat to cook the cabbage. Cook the onion in the bacon fat for a couple of minutes, then add cabbage, then garlic, parsley, and seasoning. When the cabbage is wilted and slightly caramelized, add the cooked bacon from earlier and deglaze with vegetable stock. Thicken the sauce for a couple of minutes more. The fried cabbage is ready! Directions
1.To make the fried cabbage and bacon skillet: Pan-fry the chopped bacon in a large skillet with 1/4 cup of water. No need to add oil or butter. The water will evaporate and ensure the bacon is cooked evenly. Cook bacon until crispy and the water has completely evaporated. Remove bacon from the skillet with a slotted spoon. You can discard some of the rendered bacon fat from the skillet if there is too much.
2.In the same skillet, add onion and cook in the bacon fat until fragrant and translucent, about 3 minutes.
3.Add the shredded cabbage to the onion and cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time.
4. Once the cabbage is softened and caramelizes on the edges, add chopped parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 3 minutes more. Veggies must be well-browned and softened.
5.Add bacon and pour in the vegetable stock to deglaze, and cook for 2 minutes to reduce the sauce slightly. Scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to catch the delicious browned bits!
6.Cook the cabbage and bacon for half a minute until fragrant. Season with more pepper to taste, sprinkle with parsley and serve theSauteed Bacon Cabbage Skilletimmediately. Enjoy! ❤️

Tips for the fried cabbage and bacon skillet recipe
Thisfried cabbage and bacon recipeis simple and amazing! Here are a few tips to make it even better:
- The more you caramelize onion and cabbage, the more flavor you get. Feel free to cook thecabbage and baconfor longer over medium-low heat.
- To keep sodium low, use low-sodium vegetable broth, and don’t season thebacon and cabbagewith any salt. We recommend you watch the amount of salt you add because bacon is already salty.
How to cut cabbage for frying?
To prepare the cabbage for frying, place the 1/2 head of cabbage cut-side down on your cutting board, then chop it thinly. You can discard the core if it’s too tough. Another option is to buy pre-shredded cabbage in your favorite grocery store.
What pairs well with pan-fried cabbage and bacon?
While thissauteed cabbage recipe with bacon can be the main course, we suggest serving it with grilled and stir-fried meat such as chicken, pork, or steak. Pan-dried or roasted salmon also works well, but avoid milder white fish that the strong flavors of cabbage will overpower.
How long to keep the sauteed bacon and cabbage leftovers?
You can keep any cabbage and bacon leftovers for up to 3 days in an airtight container in your refrigerator. Reheat the cabbage and bacon in a pan with a few drops of water to loosen the sauce.

Very good. I use frozen pepper and onions from Walmart and I also remove the bacon after frying but leave the grease in the skillet then add po/p and cabbage bin and cooked covered until fork tender. Plate up and a splash of malt vinegar on the top

Will omit the salt next time. The salt from bacon was enough to season. Also, looking at the Nutritional values, 872.99 calories per serving seems excessive.I will sauté cabbage with small amount of butter in low sodium veggie broth and microwave bacon to cut the amount of fat and lower calorie total.
