Who won the Masters 2024? Complete scores, results, highlights from the final round at Augusta National | Sporting News Australia (2024)

Green might just be Scottie Scheffler’s color.

The world’s No. 1 ranked golfer is now a two-time Masters champion, distancing himself from the field and dominating the course at Augusta National.

He walks away from his four days worth of work with another green jacket, plenty of green for his wallet, and another trophy for the case. Now, gets to head home to become a father.

Not a bad week.

Scheffler held a one-shot lead heading into the final round and staved off challenges from Ludvig Åberg, Collin Morikawa, and Max Homa along the way. It was a masterful job from the father-to-be, who remained his normal stoic self, unfazed by the moment at a time when his competition was clearly feeling the heat.

On a warm day in Augusta, no one weathered the storm better than Scheffler, who left no doubt in the end. And with the state of the golf world in flux, only players from the PGA Tour finished in the top five.

It’s a fitting moment, especially after Scheffler handed the green jacket off to Jon Rahm in 2023. Now it’s Scheffler’s turn to reclaim it from Rahm in 2024.

The Sporting News tracked all the key moments from Sunday's Round 4 of the 2024 Masters Tournament.

7 p.m.:One more shot to go for the leader, who fittingly places one within a few feet of the hole. Scheffler has dominated the course — and the competition — all weekend long.

6:56 p.m.:Scheffler is hanging out in the bunker off the tee, which is fitting considering he'll be able to spend plenty of time in the sand once this finishes.

6:54 p.m.:Max Homa won't walk away with a green jacket, but he can leave with his head high after his best finish in a major.

— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 14, 2024

6:53 p.m.:Aberg drops in a birdie to stake his claim to second, finishing an impressive run over the last four days. The Swede finishes at 7 under par and turned in a 69 on the scorecard today.

6:44 p.m.:If this were any other sport, they'd consider pulling the starters and waving the white flag. Scheffler keeps his four shot lead heading to the 18th tee.

6:34 p.m.:BIRDIE AGAIN! Scheffler is pulling away, going up by four with just two more holes to go.

Why not?

6:25 p.m.:Scheffler saves par and heads to the 16th tee up by three.

6:22 p.m.:The ball doesn't really cooperate, as it continues to roll. He'll have a chance to save par, however. Meanwhile, Morikawa knocks down a birdie to keep his hopes alive.

6:19 p.m.:Scheffler finds the bunker at 15, but shouldn't be in too much danger with the cushion he has right now.

6:12 p.m.:Tommy Fleetwood drops in a par to finish his day, collecting a top five finish at Augusta.

6:07 p.m.:There's another birdie for Scheffler, who is now three ahead with four to go.

6:02 p.m.:OH WOW! Scheffler drops in a beauty at 14 to set up a birdie chance to stretch the lead to three.

5:57 p.m.:Aberg converts and stays two back of the lead.

— The Masters (@TheMasters) April 14, 2024

5:55 p.m.:Scheffler drops in another birdie to move to 9 under. Aberg is going to need to sink a birdie himself, with a big chance coming at the 14th.

5:45 p.m.:We're ticking down to the final few holes now, with Scheffler holding a comfortable lead over Aberg after Homa fell off too.

5:25 p.m.:Morikawa has completely fallen apart now, dropping to 3 under after another double bogey. Scheffler also bogeys the 11th, dropping a shot to 8 under.

5:12 p.m.:Aberg's bogey attempt comes close, but he'll have to settle for double bogey at 11. Scheffler looks like he won't be denied, but Max Homa is trying to keep pace as the only challenger within striking distance right now.

5:10 p.m.:Aberg has found the water at the 11th. While it might be refreshing on a hot day, it doesn't bode well for his chances to track down Scheffler.

5 p.m.:Scheffler starts off the back nine in style, sinking another birdie to move two up on the field.

4:47 p.m.:Disaster strikes for Morikawa! He double bogeys the 9th and finds himself three shots back after Scheffler's birdie. He'll have a lot of work to do now on the back nine if he wants to get back into contention.

4:35 p.m.:Now it's Åberg's turn to get in on the action! He birdies the 9th to stay tied for the lead.

4:32 p.m.:But Morikawa says, "not so fast!" He converts a birdie attempt of his own, moving back into a tie.

4:30 p.m.:Back to the lead! A familiar face is back on top as Scheffler sinks a birdie at the 8th to move to 7 under.

4:12 p.m.:Scheffler can't save par at the 7th and has to tap in for bogey. He is now in a three-way tie with Morikawa and Åberg.

4:11 p.m.:Morikawa just misses the birdie attempt, keeping him one back of the lead through seven.

4 p.m.:This should be setting up for an exciting finish, with so many players clustered together at the top of the leaderboard.

3:33 p.m.:Tommy Fleetwood continues to lurk at only four shots back, entering his name into the conversation for contention today. He's one to watch.

1:30 p.m.:Another prominent storyline comes in the form of Verne Lundquist, who will be calling his final round at the Masters today. It's a 40 year run behind the CBS mic that is coming to a close.

1 p.m.:One of the biggest things to watch today will be Scottie Scheffler. And that's not because of his play on the course, but rather whether he ends up withdrawing. The Scheffler's are expecting the birth of their first child any day now and if it happens today, he'll leave — even if he's leading.

If Scottie Scheffler's wife goes into labor, he still plans on leaving the Masters to be there.

11 a.m.:Tiger Woods started the Masters well, but he shot his worst-ever round at the major Saturday when he carded an 8-over 80 for the day. He's en route to another rocky round, as he's 4 over through 7 holes Sunday. He is now 15 over for the tournament, which puts him in 60th place. That's last among players who made the cut.
